The second of our annual club awards is the Stuart Begg award that was kindly donated by former youth player Stuart's family and is presented to one of our young people who has shown commitment, resilience and is always willing to help others at TUYFC.
It is not very often that you see a team manage to get to U17 age group so playing at that age is an achievement in itself and we are extremely proud that our 2007's were able to make that happen.
Within that there are a number of boys who have also achieved their 10 year status with the club and in this day and age with the number of clubs around the area, that says something about the coaches and the boys they play with.
This year's winner of this award is one of those boys or I should say young men.
He quietly reminded the coaches before presentation night that this was his 10th year and he was so proud to say it.
Hardworking, committed, resilient and loyal are all words that you would use to describe this year's winner. He always displays a positive attitude and keeps the team, and the coaches going with his motivation both on and off the pitch.
One of the things noticed by many is the way he takes an interest in the other kids and teams across the club. He will always take 2 minutes to stop and ask them how they are getting on or how they got on at the weekend in their games.
Over the last year he has helped with other groups, is always there to help at club events and has also successfully passed his referee exams so hopefully we will see him in that role soon. As long as he remembers what club he played for!
I have also had the pleasure of working with him at Turriff Academy over the last 6 years where he was exactly the same. He got involved with everything he could to make the school better and always looked out for the younger pupils. His hard work and commitment was recognised as he achieved the School Captain role during his 6th year.
It is fantastic to see our players grow up as part of TUYFC and as young people.
A massive congratulations to this year's winner as it is so well deserved and we hope to see you still involved with the club as you develop.
We are delighted to announce that this year, the winner of The Stuart Begg award is our 2007's player Ben Walker.
